Kemsa congratulates health nominee Dr Deborah Mlongo Barasa

KEMSA leadership has congratulated Dr Deborah Mlongo Barasa after she was nominated by President William Ruto for the position of Health Cabinet Secretary.

The authority chairman Irungu Nyakera said Dr Mlongo is an astute professional with over 15 years of experience as a medical doctor, specialising in internal medicine and infectious diseases.

 Dr Mlongo was among the 11 Cabinet nominees that President Ruto unveiled on Friday a week after he dissolved his cabinet.

Nyakera said the nominee has proven leadership skills and is goal-oriented, seeking to offer comprehensive, quality care through consultancy, leadership, and capacity building. 

In a statement, he said, Dr Mlongo has taken on Kenya’s critical assignments in the health sector, including addressing outbreak-prone infections.

“We look forward to working with Dr Deborah Mlongo to achieve our organisational

mandate of providing cost-effective supply chain solutions as the backbone of

healthcare services in Kenya through last-mile delivery to more than 15,000 health

facilities countrywide,” said Nyakera.

 Other cabinet nominees are Prof Kithure Kindiki( Interior), Ms Alice Wahome( Lands), Ms Soipan Tuya( Environment) Adan Duale( Defence), Davis Chirchir( Transport), Julius Migosi( Education), Ms Margaret Nyambura(ICT), Erick Muriithi( Water), and Andrew Muhia( Agriculture).

 Former Trade CS Ms Rebecca Miano was nominated  for the position of AG, previously occupied by Justin Muturi.
