In 14 weeks Gatanga’s music and films recording studio will be ready, says Mutua

Murang’a will host the first audio and visual
studio  courtesy of the government, in
efforts  to promote the upcoming
artistes.

 The facility
designed to cost Sh25 million is the first in the country and will be
established in Gatanga constituency, home of the Kikuyu musicians.

   Six years
ago, recording equipment that were sourced through Gatanga nights hosted in
Nairobi were vandalized by unknown persons shortly after they were installed.

 Commissioning
the project, Kenya Films and Classification Board Chairman Ezekiel Mutua said  Gatanga is the first constituency to benefit
with studio mashinani programme.

“This one of the project that the government designed
to assist those with music and film making talents, instead of wasting them in
the villages,” said Mutua.

 The CEO pleaded
with artistes  to ensure they compose
items that will promote nationalisms and shun those that will encourage hatred
and disunity.

 Gatanga MP
Joseph Nduati said the youth will benefit with the facility, as it will save
them from being exploited by traders in the music industry.

“We have struggled to ensure what President Uhuru
Kenyatta promised to Gatanga musicians in honour of the late John Ng’ang’a ‘Demathew’  was brought to uplift living standards of the
others,” said Nduati. Ends
