Hawkers: Iria appoints Wachuuzi society’s committee

Murang’a
County Government has registered Wachuuzi Savings and Cooperative Society, an year
after Governor Mwangi wa Iria championed for a Hawkers Bill.

In the Kenya Gazette Notice, the Governor has
appointed a nine-member committee to be the management committee members of the
society.

Others are Economic expert Prof Muragu
Kinandu, Simon Mukunu, Benard Kariuki,William Kigo, James Migwi, Elizabeth Karani and David Mwihaki.

In the past three weeks, there have been a
series of meeting between the hawkers
and the county executive planning on members registration in the much-awaited cooperative society.

At the
same time, the governor has appointed an audit committee following
recommendations by the controller of the budget and Murang’a County Assembly.
