Chege: How can an expectant woman be sent away from a government health facility?

 

Nairobi Metropolitan
Services (NMS) Major General Mohammed Badi has been asked to provide a report
on a case of a woman who was seen delivering on road.

Chege said it was
unacceptable that an expectant woman being sent away from Pumwani Maternity Hospital
which is a public institution.

Speaking in Murang’a,
Chege the chairperson of parliamentary health committee said the truth is
needed to be known of a woman who was seen in a clip that was circulating in
social media platforms delivering outside the health facility.


“As a woman I need to
get information of the vehicle that dropped the 
woman at the facility,” she said.

 The MP said NMS need to take full
responsibility and explain why an expecting woman was denied the chance to
access the facility, saying from the clip it shows no one bothered to assist her.


 A team was sent to start investigations into
the matter to establish the truth.


Unconfirmed report indicate that the hospital guards failed to open the gate to allow the vehicle into the facility.
