The coffee market fetched Sh 1.4 billion after the auction of 29,098 bags during the weekly auction.
Last week, the market earned Sh 1.4 billion after the sale of 31,568 bags of the commodity.
At the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE), reports indicate that Ibero Kenya led the buyers after it bought 13,408 bags of coffee, at Sh 652.8 million across the grades, followed by Taylor Winch 2,684 bags ( Sh 130.3 Million).
Reports indicate that the coffee brokers presented 5,202 bags of grade AA, where Alliance Berries Limited offered 2,714 bags, followed by New KPCU with 823 bags.
In the marketing process, which was finalised on Friday, Gakuyu ini factory coffee achieved the highest price of Sh 48,70 per bag of grade AA marketed by the Alliance Berries Limited.
In the week, 1,726 bags were withdrawn from the market after the growers and the buyers failed to agree on the negotiated prices.
 NCE reports that Alliance Berries offered 12,772 bags that netted Sh 641.5 million, followed by Kirinyaga Slopes 5,274 bags (Sh 241.9 million), New KPCU 4,366 bags (Sh 217.9 million), and KCCE 2,099 bags (Sh 105.7 million). CEBBA 570 bags ( Sh 27.4 million).
The report further explained that Alliance Berries, Kirinyaga Slopes, and Minnesota offered the largest volumes of certified coffee that attracted the international buyers.
NCE CEO Lisper Ndung’u, in her report, noted that the market attracted 21 buyers and 10 coffee brokers, saying the auction offers competitive prices, thereby encouraging farmers to continue using it.
“Other buyers that participated in the market included C.Dormans 2,635 bags, Kenyacof 2,483 bags, Sasini 2,375 bags, among others,” said Ms. Ndung’u.
