Kindiki says Economic Empowerment Programmes Unstoppable

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has promised to continue with the economic empowerment initiative targeting bettering the lives of the majority of Kenyans through expansion of their businesses and hustles. 

Speaking during an Empowerment event for small-scale traders in Kamune Mathioya, Murang’a County, Prof. Kindiki said nothing will stop their efforts to boost income of those at the bottom of the economic pyramid. 

“Those unhappy with our activities to empower small and medium enterprises should brace themselves because we are not about to stop. We are in it for the long haul. We will continue doing it because we want to empower those at the bottom of the economy-that is the Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda we are pursuing,” DP assured.

This initiative, the Deputy President affirmed, is complementing other empowerment programs including National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) and Kenya Jobs for Economic Transformation (KJET), aimed at providing financial support to Small and Medium businesses especially at the grassroots.

NYOTA will provide Sh50, 000 in grants to 70 small-scale businesses in each of the 1,450 wards on top of mentorship support to ensure success as they expand and create more job opportunities.

“This is the bottom-up transformation we promised in our manifesto. We have not forgotten it as it is at the centre of the nation’s economic empowerment. This will transform this country forever I can assure you,” he stated.

At the same time, the Deputy President assured residents the government will complete all the 23 modern markets in Murang’a for mama mboga and other traders to enjoy a conducive business environment.  

Other key projects in the county, including roads and electricity connection, will also be completed as promised.
