Kenya’s weekly coffee auction netted Sh 361.7 million following the sale of 8,960 bags of coffee.
In the auction market, produce sold by Alliance Berries Limited, and New KPCU achieved the highest price.
According to Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) reports Evas Estate in Mathira, Nyeri achieved the highest price of Sh43,473 per bag of grade AA brokered by Coffee Estates Bourgeosie Brokers Limited (CEBBL).
In the sale of grade AA, Rutuma-Karie factory coffee brokered by the Alliance Berries fetched Sh40,119, and Kaliluni factory achieved Sh41,151 through the New KPCU.
NCE CEO Lisper Ndung’u said the weekly market fetched low compared to the previous sale that achieved Sh499.3 million after the sale of 11,864 bags of the commodity.
Ms Ndungu said in the market nine coffee brokers and 14 local and international buyers participated at the auction.

“ As the leaders of the auction we call upon our farmers to embrace the production of the quality grades of AA and AB that are highly sought by the buyers,” said Ndung’u.
In the dealers category, Sasini led buying 121,423 kgs of coffee at Sh84,005,506.92, followed by Louis Dreyfus 97,873 kgs for Sh 52,113,915,Ibero Kenya 95,758kgs for Sh58,060,877, Taylor Winch 60,523 kgs bought at Sh42,052,379 among others.
In the brokers performance Alliance Berries Limited sold 2,706 bags of coffee for Sh 115.7 million, New KPCU 1,437 bags for Sh53.2 million, and KCCE 1,077 bags for Sh44 million.
Coffee Estates Bourgeoisie Brokers Limited netted Sh12 million after the auction of 281 bags of coffee.
