Running battled ensured in Nairobi Marigiti marker after police engaged the traders protesting to relocate.

In the melee property worth millions of shillings among them trucks went up in flames,  as the protest entered the second day.

The protestors on Wednesday night barricaded Haile Selassie Avenue, disrupting traffic.

The market traders oppose the alleged plan to relocate them to the Kangundo Road market.

Judy Wamuyu said it was unfair for the Nairobi County Government to force them to relocate.

“ In the morning we found the market entrances closed and the area heavily guarded by police,’ said Wamuyu.

Jerald Simiyu asked the government to reconsider the decision as it would be punitive to the majority.

“ There must be sinister plans as where they are relocating the market is not conducive , thus the decision should be reviewed for the interest of the majority,” said Simiyu.
