There were celebrations in Likii village in Nanyuki after the county government handed 741 allotment letters to the land owners after decades of wait.

The moment marked the end of the tribulation to the locals whose majority had been taken through the circles in pursuit of land documents.

Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu said the moment was a significant milestone in resolving the long-standing land issues that have affected the community, bringing an end to years of uncertainty and hesitation regarding development.

“By issuing these allotment letters, we have provided the residents with a formal, legally recognized claim to their land, a crucial step before the processing of title deeds,” said Irungu.

The county government, he said, was looking forward to witnessing the positive transformation and development that will undoubtedly emerge in the area now that land ownership is secure.

“Next in line to receive ownership documents are the residents of Kanyoni, Kwa Maina, and Kwa Mbuzi, as we continue our mission to ensure land security for all,” said the governor.
