Relief to Murang’a parents after the county government disbursed more than Sh118 million to facilitate education of the needy students.
Governor Irungu Kang’ata administration came to the rescue of the students from the humble background as the form one students were expected to register.
In a colourful function in Murang’a town presided by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, Kang’ata said his administration will remain dedicated to the call of the needy persons.
He said he improved the Nyota Zetu Programme, through increasing the number of the beneficiaries.
Kang’ata said the bursary programme was a relief to hundreds of students in day schools, which his administration is focusing on.
“Muthithi secondary will send to the university, Ngurwe ini 22 students, and Vidhu Ramji 22 students,” said the governor.
In the bursary scheme, the best five KCPE candidates in each of the public primary schools got a reward of Sh15,000, orphans each Sh10,000.
Candidates from day secondary schools who acquired university entry grades have been allocated each Sh12,000, to help them in preparation.
“ Each ward has been allocated Sh2 million that the MCAs will disburse to the needy children. The county government increased bursary facilitation at the ward level from Sh1 million to Sh2 million totaling to Sh70 million,” added Kang’ata.
