The celebration to mark World Water Day in Murang’a was a relief to
residents after Governor Irungu Kang’ata promised that the critical would be
delivered to the doorstep of every home.

After he commissioned the borehole sinking, the governor speaking in Mbogo ini grounds in Kahumbu ward, Kigumo said he was determined to
realize the dream of supplying water in
every part of the county.

“I am committed to ensuring Murang’a people get back their dignity
through the provision of having access to piped water,” said the Governor who
was accompanied by Senator Joe Nyutu and  MPs, host Joseph Munyoro (Kigumo) and Betty
Maina (Murang’a).

Kang’ata said in the county only 66 percent of the households are connected with piped water thus the need to
allocate more funds to realize the dream
of connectivity.

He expressed dismay with the ongoing rivalry between
Murang’a Water  (Muwasco) and
Murang’a South ( Muswasco) following the proposal to enlarge the area under Murang’a Municipality.

“The rivalry between the service providers in Murang’a will be a thing of the past as I will unite those fighting.  All the energies should be channeled to achieve 100 percent service delivery and ensure all the households have easy
access to the commodity,” said the
governor.

In the meeting,  Kahumbu MCA
Chefman Isaac Njoroge lauded  Kang’ata over the fulling filling of a campaign pledge of sinking a borehole at Mbogo
ini.

There is a need for the water from the borehole be piped to homes, for the purpose of easing the burden the locals have lived with for decades, pleaded the MCA.

He brought to the attention of the Governor of three
salty bore holes in the ward seeking to acquire Reverse Osmosis Equipment to purify the water.

“ There is a need for the equipment at the boreholes to help ease the problem, thus the locals
have 24-hour access to the commodity,”
said Chefman.
