Murang’a County Assembly approved two members
of the county public service board with a directive to resolve the employment crisis in various
devolved functions.
The members said it was a pity that the ECDE
section was badly hit with shortage of
teachers, thus the need for the matter to be addressed for the interest of the
young children.
The
assembly approved the nomination of Stephen Macharia Mwangi and Rebecca Wambui
Kamande to serve in the board charged
with hiring of staff in the devolved unit.

Macharia tried
the Mathioya Parliamentary seat and lost at the nomination stage to the
current MP Dr Edwin Mugo. Before he attempted the parliamentary

Wambui
is a spouse to the former Maragua MP Peter Kamande and a career teacher.
Kangari MCA Moses Mirara said the board is
supposed to be furnishing the assembly with quarterly reports as the procedure
demands.
“ The assembly need to know what the board is
doing from time to time,” said Mirara.
Mugumo ini MCA Alex Wanyoike said in any
organisation there is need for sober leadership to guide the workforce,
as he hailed the appointment of the two.
“ Macharia has served as the chairman of
Embakasi East NG CDF while Wambui has been a teacher since 1992 and presently a
headteacher at Maji Kiboko primary school,” said Wanyoike.
Murarandia MCA Njuguna Munga said the
board should consider looking at the plight of nursery
schools that are understaffed despite the challenges of congestion
of learners.
“ There was a report on the state of ECDE
centres in Wangu ward, that the issue of shortage of teachers emerged, thus the
appointment of the two the issues should be handled,” said Munga.
