Christmas Day celebration was cut short in Kieni East Sub County after hundreds of liters of illicit brews were destroyed in Ichuga village, near Nanyuki town.
A contingent of police led by Deputy County Commissioner Etiyang Okaka and Police Commander Richard Rotich descended on the home of a notorious woman brewer in the village following a tip off.
It was a shock as the police discovered assorted illicit brews some hidden in the shamba as it was prepared to be sold to the revelers for Christmas and New Year.
The contingent including the DCI team was shocked to find the living room turned into a safe place for storing the illicit brews.
The residents in the locality watched from a distance as the police raided the residence.
“ This is just the beginning. We are pursuing all the criminal elements in the villages, especially those in the bhang and illicit brews business,” said Okaka.
On Christmas Eve the contingent raided a home in Gatei village in Hombe area where they uprooted 6,048 bhang plants valued at Sh1.7 million.
