Laikipia
County Government has come under attack
by professionals over the poor state of the health sector.

Mwangi wa Sammy, a member of the professional
group said the patients are going through suffering as the health care has been
politicized.

Speaking in Chuma Baraka- Kiandurika arwa in Tigithi
ward, Laikipia east, Sammy said it was hurting when the locals are getting a
raw deal at Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital when they seek services.

He
spoke when he joined the residents in the locality in raising funds to cater for the
hospital bill of Jane Nyawira.

“A
lot of issues are going wrong at Nanyuki Referral Hospital that should be streamlined.
The county government has fixed  the
infrastructure at the facility there is now head for the software part of it(
health workers),” he said,

The public recounted their suffering when in
need of health care as they have only the referral facility to turn to, that lacks
the medical specialists.

Many
cases are being followed up by the community, said Samuel Kamau after they can
not afford to get treatment in the expensive private health facilities.

We plead with Governor Ndiritu Muriithi to consider the plight of the poor and
who are many to recruit health specialists for Nanyuki hospital,” said  Kamau, a resident of Tigithi.
