Laikipia
County Trade executive Nicholas Biwott said Nanyuki is a prime investment followed by major infrastructural
development by the national government estimated at millions of shillings.

The
county government has moved to light the streets for a 24-hour economy to match
with the status of the historical town.

“In addition the national government
has revived the railway and improvement and expansion of Nanyuki airstrip is a
testimony that the town is growing” said Mr Biwott

immigrants settled in Nanyuki, some of whose descendants still live in and
around the town.

who worked for the whites lived and more so women who followed the soldiers.

early days of colonial Kenya in 1907 and some of their descendants still live
in or around the town.

According to history, British Army officer Major
Digby Tatham Walter famed for carrying an umbrella into battle moved to Nanyuki
after the war and lived on his farm until his death in 1993.

During the native Kenyan Mau Mau rebellion
against foreign British rule, the late Digby raised a volunteer mounted police
force at his own expense and led them to suppress and oppress the Mau Mau
(Kenyans).
