A titanic battle await Gaturi, as Presidential candidates ready to wrestle

Fifteen candidates’ to
battle for by-election set for December 15

Ground is set for
Gaturi ward By-Election with Presidential aspirants preparing to campaign for
their candidates.

The candidates who
have launched their campaigns in the Kiharu constituency ward are Nelson Kenda
(Democratic Party), Rosemary Wakuthie Njine (Jubilee Party) Muchoki Mbuthia of Maendeleo
Chap Chap.
Maendeleo Chap Chap is
affiliated to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who has launched Presidential
campaigns in Central Kenya region and who is expected in Gaturi to campaign for
Muchoki.

In the race to replace
the late MCA Cryus Kiiru Mwangi aka Mbembe 
the national political might are interested in the outcome of the by election.

Youth leader Chris
Kimuhu is vying on National Ordinary People’s Empowerment Party (Nopeu),
associated with Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya and East African
Legislative Assembly Member Mr Mpuri Amburi.

Esther Mwihaki Kamau has
been nominated by People Empowerment Party (PEP) affiliated to Gatundu South MP
Moses Kuria. Mwihaki moved to PEP after she lost Jubilee Party ticket

 Kuria is an ally to Deputy President William
Ruto who is set to visit Gaturi to campaign for her.


Mr Muchoki Mbuthia


Narc Kenya allied for
Martha Karua is fielding Zablon Mwangi, while The Democratics Party has settled
on former Gaturi councilor Jacob Murira.

 Former
Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakera is leading the campaign for Kenda, while he is
also interested for Murang’a Governorship position.

 Civic
Renewal Party allied to Governor Mwangi wa Iria has not fielded a candidate but
will be supporting the Jubilee Party nominee.
