Hundreds of tea growers
have boycotted plucking their green leaf as they called for the implementation
of the regulations backed by the government.
In a spot check across
the country, hundreds of the growers have deserted their farms, with only a few
plucking their green leaf saying tea has been their business for decades.

In Murang’a, Nyeri and Kirinyaga counties, The
Mountain Journal learned hundreds of the growers were not in their farms as they
joined in the countrywide strike.
As the boycott started
Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) operations remained uninterrupted as the
factories and buying centres are operational. More to follow.
