Evangelical Bishops
have told politicians to stop engaging in political meetings but instead should
be involved in peace building activities.
The Bishop led by
Stephen Maina said it was unfortunate that
Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga have been holding political meetings when the country was battling with challenges
among them Covid 19.
Speaking in Murang’a
town, the prelates said the leaders should emulate President Uhuru Kenyatta who
has been involved in the inspection of development programmes in various parts of
the country.
“We are disturbed with
the present scenario where Ruto and Raila are busy in campaign meetings at the
expense of development. It is our
prayers that this will come to an end to stop exposing Kenyans to Covid 19,” said Maina.
They further asked
President Kenyatta to disregard the advisory by Chief Justice David Maraga
saying issue of two-third gender rule
can be implemented later.
