Disabled persons joins in cleaning police station

Persons
with disabilities have called for a change of procedures in reporting incidents
to the police.

They
told Deputy Inspector of Police Edward Mbugua that in many of the times, cases
where they are victims are dismissed in the court of law on technical grounds.

Through
Ahadi Trust Executive Director Stanley Kamau they asked for change of
procedures to have their details registered from their places of comfort, as in
most of the time they experience difficulties walking into police stations.

“Many
of the cases involving persons with special needs are fail to meet the threshold.
The main cause is lack of victims having recorded their statements,” said
Kamau.

In
the past persons  with disability are
raped, mugged among  other inhuman
incidences and culprits  get away with
the offence.

Mbugua
on his part ordered the police to ensure they get details of the scene to
ensure justice is done.

“The
persons with special needs  should have
their concerns registered  at the place
of scene and the same  transferred into
the occurrence books as the procedure demands,” said Mbugua.

During the occasion the persons with special
needs led by their chairperson Damaris Muthoni  joined Mbugua and Kamau in cleaning Maragua
police station. Our news lines are
