NG CDF board gives nod to Kigano on NHIF

Kangema Constituency
is the first to register 1,200 with National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

This financial year,
through NG CDF an allocation of Sh7.6 million has been channeled to pay for the
medical insurance for the identified people among them the elderly and those
with special needs.

There were celebrations
at Kangema social hall when the aged and persons living with special needs
received Nhif cards from MP Muturi Kigano.

Kigano said the
beneficiaries were vetted to ensure their status before they are registered
with Nhif.

He said the 1,200
persons will have their payments remitted by Kangema CDF to ensure they are
catered for annually.

“Through the community
leaders the CDF was able to have them registered to benefit from Nhif,” said
the MP.

The MP added that the
aged have suffered due to lack of medical care, thus resolution of his CDF
committee to support them.

Another Sh5.6 million
was disbursed to the groups by Uwezo Fund to support members’ business
activities.

The members drawn from
the 32 community groups received the allocations that ranged between
Sh100,000  to 500,000.

 The MP said
those who benefitted with the kitty should repay their loans, to enable
others to get assistance.

“It the responsibility
of the group leaders to ensure the loan is repaid, as it is government money to
promote others,” said the MP.
