Crime: Minor in custody over murder

 

A boy is in custody after he allegedly killed a neighbour’s
daughter in Ihiga ini village near Maragua town.

The standard six pupil from Ihiga ini primary school was picked by
police after he was mentioned as the last person who was seen with Purity Njeri,
before she went missing.  The remains of
Njeri were discovered in a shallow grave in a neighbouring farm.

Murang’a County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua said the suspect, a
minor, was under investigation over the death of Njeri, a standard three pupil in the
same school.

“The police are conducting investigations into the incident that
was reported at  Gakoigo police post in Nginda ward in Murang’a South sub county,”
said Kinyua.

Details indicate that the minor told her parents that she had gone
to collect avocado fruits from Kariuki and never returned a search for her
kicked off on Saturday.

The fruits the girl was going for were later brought by the
suspect in their home.
