Opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Justin Muturi came face to face with suspected goons, followed by police tear gas, during a series of political engagements in Migori County.

The incidents, the leaders said, occurred during their scheduled public engagement forums, where they were meeting residents to discuss issues affecting Kenyans and the country's political future.

Kalonzo condemned the violence and intimidation, describing the incidents as acts of political intolerance and an infringement on the constitutional rights to peaceful assembly, freedom of expression and political participation.May be an image of one or more people, helicopter and text

“Use of police tear gas against citizens attending peaceful political gatherings, maintaining that no Kenyan should be subjected to violence, harassment or intimidation for exercising their democratic rights,” said Kalonzo, who is on a two-day tour in the Nyanza region.

They condemned the involvement of goons directed towards disrupting political meetings, calling upon security agencies to investigate the incidents, identify those responsible and ensure that appropriate action is taken.

"Stones and teargas could not stop us from addressing the great people of Migori. That is the predator regime’s answer to peaceful assembly: violence and intimidation. We will not let it rot our democracy or take away a right the Constitution guarantees every Kenyan," he explained.
