Baichu is the new party leader

The new Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UMP) leader is Murega Baichu, the husband of former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Baichu took over the party leadership after the former governor was bestowed with the position of deputy party leader at Edwin Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi.

The new party leader is among the candidates for the Meru gubernatorial position in the forthcoming general election.

Mr Baichu welcomed his elevation to UMP leader, as did UMP Director of Elections and Central Imenti MP candidate Earnest Kimaita and John Kinoti, its Parliamentary candidate in Buuri constituency.

“I am in the gubernatorial race in Meru on UMP,” said Baichu.
