Student hospitalized after a knife attack in Murang’a

 

A
student is fighting for his life at Kenyatta National Hospital following a
knife wound inflicted by a colleague over argument on a padlock.

 Two
form three students at Wahundura secondary School in Mathioya, after
they differed over a padlock.

 The
victim was treated at the nearby Kiria ini Mission Hospital before he was
transferred to the national referral facility for specialized treatment.
  

The
incident occurred on Tuesday  evening after
the students were through with classes. The knife is yet to be recovered.

Medical
officers at the mission facility said the victim suffered internal injuries,
thus need for transfer to KNH.

Mathioya
Deputy Police Commander Pauline Mwangi said the assailant  fled  from
the school after the horrific incident.

 The
police, she said, have directed the   teachers to conduct searches of
the weapons in their compounds, to ensure safety of the learners.

The
police officer said they  have launched a
man hunt  for the  assailant  after his parents indicated they
have not seen him.

 The injured  is responding well to
treatment, as the police have launched a man hunt for the assailant.

“ We have summoned the student’s
parents in efforts to trace him. We appeal to the community to help in tracing
the assailant who is still at large,” said  the deputy police commander.
