A director at Athi Water Development Works Board Betty Maina threw residents of Murang’a to a shock after she arrived at several church functions using a chartered helicopter.
Maina a former political activist and a supporter to Water and Irrigation Permanent Secretary Joseph Wairagu landed at General Ihura stadium to attend a church function at St James All Martyrs Church in Murang’a town.
The PS alias Wairagu wa Maii is among the individuals who have expressed interest to run for Murang’a Governorship position next year and has mobilised his supporters to campaign for him.
Details of her presence in the county flying in a chopper belonging to the former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth spread through the social media platforms where allies to the PS supported her while the rivals described the move as too early.
Betty and her entourage attended functions at St Mary Catholic Church, and ACC&S Kangari, Kigumo and ACK Gakurwe( Kiharu) following invitation by the congregations.
During the functions, Maina detailed the progress made by the government through Athi Water Board to distribute clean water to the residents.
” BY next year most homes will be connected with water following the government’s allocation of billions of shillings to implement projects,” said Maina.
She comes from Kigumo sub county where it is suspected she could be eying for a political slot.
