With eyes setting on Mt Kenya
politics, there are expectations that Deputy President William Ruto will get a
running mate from the eastern side of the mountain.

The possible individuals to be picked
for the position due to their mass influence are Agriculture Cabinet Secretary
Peter Munya and Senator Kithure Kindiki of Tharaka Nithi.

Interestingly, despite the
popularity of Munya in the eastern block, his relationship with President Uhuru
Kenyatta prevents him joining Ruto’s camp.

 Prof Kindiki has been among
the key supporters of Ruto since 2013.

The new political formation emerged
when parliamentary speaker Justin Muturi was conoralised the Gema community
spokesman on May 22, a move that stirred Mt Kenya politics with majority of the
leaders from Mt Kenya West rejecting him.

 Munya  could be going for
the Meru Governorship position  where his services are needed by the
locals.

The CS is among the leaders from the
east who poured cold water on the installation of the Gema spokesman.

Going by numbers Muturi due to the
popularity in the East of the mountain could also get the deputy
presidency slot if there will be political athematic with the camp allied
to Ruto.

 In the region, Governors’ Martin
Wambora ( Meru)  and Kiraitu Murungi ( Meru) are set to leave offices by
next year.

There is a likelihood for Kiraitu to endorse
Kilemi Mwiria to sabotage chances of Munya in Meru.

Unknown to many Kawira Mwangaza the Meru
MP  is warming up  to wrestle Munya in the governorship contest
following the massive support she get over her religious back ground.

Votes from the East block are Meru 702,480,
Tharaka Nithi( 213,154) and Embu 309,468.
