Professor Eugene Kevune Appointed to Senior Global Human Rights Leadership Roles

Kenyan humanitarian and education advocate Professor Dr. Eugene Kevune Nzabonimba has been appointed to three senior leadership positions in the Implementation Universal Declaration of Human Rights (IUDHR), a global human rights advocacy organization headquartered in Cary, North Carolina, United States.
In an announcement made by the organization, Prof. Kevune was named Peace Ambassador at Large, National Director of IUDHR Kenya, Africa Chapter, and Advisor to the Global President on Continental Africa Affairs.
The appointments place him among the organization’s senior leadership tasked with advancing human rights, peacebuilding and sustainable development initiatives across Africa.
According to IUDHR, Prof. Kevune will provide strategic leadership in promoting the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including equality, justice, international cooperation, peace and security, and the protection of human dignity.
The organization described him as a distinguished humanitarian leader, educator and advocate for social justice whose commitment to peace and interfaith harmony has earned him recognition in both Kenya and beyond.

In his advisory role, Prof. Kevune is expected to work closely with the IUDHR Global President, Professor Dr. Baber George, on matters relating to the organization’s programmes and partnerships across the African continent.
“As Peace Ambassador at Large and National Director for Kenya, Africa Chapter, Professor Dr. Eugene Kevune Nzabonimba will provide strategic counsel and leadership to advance peace, human rights and sustainable development across the African continent,” the organization said in a statement.
IUDHR said the appointments reflect its commitment to strengthening its presence in Africa through experienced leaders capable of fostering dialogue, promoting peaceful coexistence and supporting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of communities.
Prof. Kevune has built a reputation as a humanitarian, educator and community leader with a strong interest in social justice, youth empowerment, education, interfaith dialogue and community development. Over the years, he has participated in initiatives promoting peaceful coexistence, inclusive leadership and the protection of vulnerable populations.
His work has also focused on encouraging partnerships between institutions and communities to address social challenges through education, advocacy and sustainable development programmes.
The organization expressed confidence that his leadership will contribute significantly to expanding IUDHR’s mission across Africa.

The appointments were formally authorized by IUDHR President and Chief Ambassador Professor Dr. Baber George.
