Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Dr Fred Matiang’i has called on citizens to embrace political tolerance and  condemned the government for allowing goonism in the country and barring its political rivals  from holding their meetings in certain parts of the country.

Matiang’i regretted that  62 years after the  country attained independence, citizens  appear to apply for a visa  to visit another part of the country,  due to political affiliation.

Speaking at Kiganda St Peter’s ACK Church in Mathioya, Murang’a,  the Jubilee Party Presidential flagbear said No Kenya  should be barred  from visiting any part of the country.

“No one should be barred  from visiting, doing business in any part of the country, due to one’s tribe and political affiliation,” said Matiang’i.

He was  accompanied by former Mathioya MP Peter Kimari and Senator Kembi Gitura who called on Kenyans  to support his presidential bid.

He observed that the government was spending millions of money to mobilise people to attend political meetings, as goons terrorised those perceived  to block President William Ruto’s re-election campaign.

“ It is a pity that a nation left democratic sound by the late Mwai Kibaki was leading in the wrong direction with people bribed to attend political rallies,” he said.

The former Interior Cabinet Secretary regretted that public resources were being spent  to woo the people to attend meetings  to  listen to President William Ruto speech during his tours across the country.

He called on the government to channel  the resources  in a better manner  to support  crucial sectors among them education,  and healthcare  that will transform the living standards of the citizens.

“As the schools open the government should remit funds to schools to ensure there is smooth running, and streamlining the health sector. If I am the president I will work towards improving the living standards of Kenyans,” he explained.

He explained that if elected the president he would bring meaningful changes and initiate development projects that will enhance the national growth.

Matiang’i  observed that the  runaway corruption is really bleeding this nation  and as leaders in the united opposition will expose all the misdeeds by the government,” he said.

He castigated a section of politicians threatening their rivals against certain places, despite the country being democratic.

Goons featured prominently at Witima ACK Church  where they unleashed terror  in presence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua,  Kariobangi PCEA last year,  and in Kikuyu town.

The Linda Wanainchi Movement  leaders  also met the wrath of goons in Kisumu.
