Plans
to establish Nanyuki University

A technical
team from Laikipia University has presented
a draft proposal towards the establishment of the Nanyuki Campus.
Deputy
Governor John Mwaniki said the process to develop the Nanyuki Campus was initiated by Governor
Ndiritu Muriithi in 2018, shortly after he was elected.
“This
development has been a culmination of a series of meetings that started since April
2018, by the governor through establishing a taskforce into the realization of this college,” said Mwaniki.
In his
facebook page, Mwaniki said the proposed institution will be strategically
situated to ensure its growth.
Neighbouring Nyeri and Meru Counties, being a
commercial hub, and a gateway to the Northern Eastern Region, it will only
flourish.
“It will
offer courses ranging from innovation and manufacturing, value addition,
enterprise development, rangeland management, animal husbandry and feedlot,
Education, among other skill-based courses,” said the deputy governor.
The
proposal draft will be refined and later, we shall present it to the Ministry of
Education for adoption. Laikipia University will be the mentor of the
constituent college once it starts operation.
We
are committed to ensuring Nanyuki town gets a college, a college that is need
driven, fill in our gaps and make the town even more vibrant.
Those
who gave the report were led by Vice
Chancellor of Laikipia University, Prof. Joseph K. Rotich.
The Laikipia County Assembly team was led by MCA Daniel Nyausi.
