Gachagua stir Kangema politics - Themountainjournal

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched attack on the Kenya Kwanza government for directing the police to harass MPs allied to the DCP.

The police, Gachagua said were causing terror on MPs allied to the DCP, as it happened in Kakamega town on Saturday where Nyandarua Senator John Methu attended a meeting .

Speaking at Kihoya AIPCA Church in Kangema, Murang’a he mentioned that two senior officials were behind the terror targeting the DCP leadership.

“ Senator Methu came face to face with the terror in Kakamega but managed to escape the wrath,” said Gachagua.

On DCP nomination, he said, the aspirants will be interviewed to ensure public interests will be catered and there will be no direct nomination.

He however castigated kikuyu musicians for attending a meeting by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, terming it as betrayal of the community.

“ I met elders who asked me to ask the musicians to tender their apology to the community, failure to which businessmen will not invite them in the entertainment joints,” explained Gachagua.i

Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu asked Jubilee Secretary Jerema Kioni against misleading former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i on the strategies to seek votes in Mt Kenya region, while using the wrong forum.

“ The political entrance to Mt Kenya is through Gachagua and not Kioni,” said Nyutu.

Nyutu further castigated President Willam Ruto for misuse of powers that led to the impeachment of Gachagua for no apparent reasons and has continued causing terror to the community.

“ Last week, armed police were deployed near Jogoo Kimakia hotel to arrest or harm Gachagua, after attending a church service in Gatanga,” said Nyutu.

Nyutu, on the economic empowerment programme in Mt Kenya asked the government to stop distributing food stuff and instead create employment for the youth.

“ The government should fight the cheap brews as Sh500 given to the youth is consumed in the illicit brew joints,” added Nyutu.

Former Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau joined Gachagua led DCP and abandoned the Jubilee Party saying he was following his people ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said it was a pity that there are already two catholic priests, Fathers in Allois Bett and John Maina from Elgeyo Marakwet and Nyandarua counties respectively who have been killed under unclear circumstances.

“The deaths of the two is a reminder of ACK Bishop Alexander Muge in the 1990, and this must be brought to an end,” said Kamau eying for Murang’a gubernatorial slot in 2027..
