Kenyans did the best in tree planting

 Massive tree planting will help in the conservation of the water catchment area, and support Kenya’s food security reserves.

On Monday, millions of trees were planted in an initiative presided by President William Ruto backed by Cabinet and Principal Secretaries.

The president said he was optimistic that in 10 years, Kenyans will have planted 15 billion trees.

In the counties of Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a and Kiambu more than 300,000 trees were planted following administrators and public involvement.


The leadership in the counties mobilised their electorates in the tree planting exercise through donation of seedlings.

In Oldonyo Sabuk National park, Rodi Kenya and KWS partnered with the public through tree planting in support of President William Ruto’s directive for 150 billion trees in 10 years.

In Ikundi village in Maragua administration, residents teamed up with Echo Network Africa (ENA) where 500 trees were planted at Ikundu primary school.


Echo Network Africa representative Ms Sarah Muhoya and Maragua Assistant County  Commissioner Joshua Okello led the tree plantation exercise. 

Leaders mobilised their electorates in planting trees in Murang’a and Kiambu counties.

In Kigumo, the local MP Joseph Munyoro mobilised the residents in planting indigenous  and fruit trees estimated at 7,000.

In Oldonyo Sabuk National Park, Rodi Kenya and KWS partnered in the tree planting venture.

Led by Rodi Kenya deputy director Mr David Ngari Nyaga, the partnership is geared towards conservation of the environment. 


In the Karie area in Murang’a Municipality Cooperative CS Simon Chelugui and Deputy Governor Stephen Munania  joined the residents in a tree planting initiative.

 Lands and Housing CS Alice Wahome and Governors Mutahi Kahiga and Joshua Irungu  also partnered in tree planting in Laikipia and Nyeri counties. Timber Manufactuers Association official John Wakaba also attended  the tree planting ventures in Lakipia and Nyeri counties
