Five primary school heads from Kiharu constituency have been facilitated with a trip to Dubai for posting impressive results in the national examinations.

The heads led by Mrs Beatrice Wachira of Technology Primary School in Murang’a benefited from the trip following the promise made by area MP Ndindi Nyoro in a strategy to improve performance.

Other heads are from Githagara -the best in Kahuro subcounty, St Vincent Maragi- best improved KCPE 2020, Mbari ya Hiti -Best improved 2023 Kahuro subcounty, and Githuguya- best improved performance.

The heads left on Sunday evening for a weeklong trip that will include cruising the desert.

In April,  11 secondary school principals were rewarded with a sponsored trip to Dubai after impressive KCSE results in 2024.

Wachira said she was honoured with an international trip after her school was ranked the best over the years.

Kiharu MP’s representative, Mr Antony Warui, said the trip is part of a strategy to motivate the teachers and recognise excellent performance.

“The holiday is sponsored through a programme initiated by the MP to appreciate the teachers for their performance,” said Warui.

The programme was started in 2022 with three school headteachers, in an effort to recognise success.

Eugene Mwangi, an education consultant, lauded Kiharu MP on the initiative, saying the concept should be borrowed by other parliamentarians in efforts to improve education in their backyards.

“Many of the education researchers are in Kiharu reading the concept behind the Kiharu Masomo Bora programme, ready to roll it out in their villages, ” said Mwangi.

The trips are sponsored by the Masomo Bora programme following impressive results in the 2024 KCSE and KJSEA examinations.
