The coffee market earned Sh 644.6 million after the sale of 10,770 bags of coffee weighing 671,180 kgs at Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE).
The payment reflected a decline compared to last week’s auction of Sh 704 million.
Coffee estates and cooperatives whose produce was marketed by the New KPCU and Alliance Berries Limited achieved the highest prices.
In the market the factories that achieved are Kambusu Kaukiswa Sh 61,652 per bag of grade AA, followed by Nzaini Sh 61 523, Wyane Farm estate Sh61,264, Mathioya based Kanjahi Sh 60,747, Kahawa Tamu Sh60,101 per bag.
Other factories that achieved the best prices included Kapruret, Githiururu, and Gachami coffee brokers by Alliance Berries fetched each Sh 59,842 per bag.
In the quality grades, the 15 brokers offered 1,097 bags of grade AA that fetched Sh 79,385,282 , 3,336 bags of AB for Sh 218,867,457, and Sh 174,938,049, 2,969 bags of grade C
The NCE reports indicated that New KPCU sold 3,092 bags that achieved Sh 194.7 million, Alliance Berries 2,768 bags for Sh 162.5 million, Minnesota 856 bags for Sh 47.8 million.
“CEBBA 181 bags, KCCE 737 bags, Kipkelion 653 bags, Kirinyaga Slopes 658 kgs, Murang’a County 446 bags,” read part of the report.
NCE CEO Lisper Ndung’u said 18 buyers participated where Taylor Winch bought 3,234 bags, Ibero Kenya 2,257 bags, Louis Dreyfus 1,560 bags, C-Dormans 1,518 bags among others.
“There is a need for the growers across the counties to continue increasing production of quality coffee to attract the market,” said Ms Ndung’u.
Mathioya MP Dr Edwin Mugo celebrated the farmers affiliated to the Kanjahi factory in Gitugi ward for being among the best paid farmers at the auction.
“Two weeks ago Kangunu farmers led in the payout , followed by Kanjahi on Tuesday following production of quality coffee,” said Mugo.
The coffee trade in 2024/2025 made Sh35.6 billion, after the sale of 673,844 bags of coffee.
