Two employees of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) in Meru were charged with alleged theft of equipment worth Sh686,965.
Samuel Njoroge alias Kamzee and Joseph Murithi, appeared before Meru Chief Magistrate Ms Lilian Maina, where they denied the counts leveled against them.
The duo were charged with theft of eight car washing machines, two makinga blocks, four wheelchairs, seven pairs of crutches, and 14 sufurias all valued at Sh686,965, and belonging to NGAAF Meru County.
They faced three counts, of theft, conspiracy to commit a felony, and tampering with evidence.
They were released on a cash bail of Sh300,000 each or an alternative bond of Sh700,000 with one surety.
“The case will be mentioned on September 23, and is set for a full hearing on November 5, this year,” ruled the magistrate.
The items were meant for distribution to the public on September 8, during the Wezesha Mama Inua Jamii Empowerment Program at Gikumene Primary School in Meru County organised by Meru County MP Karambu Kailemia.
