Public transportation disruption has been experienced across the country, with thousands of commuters stranded.

In Mt Kenya region,  the highways are empty as the PSV stages remain deserted, as only boda boda and tuk tuk operators ferry passengers at exaggerated fares.

From Meru, Nanyuki, Nyeri, Murang’a, and Thika, the PSV operators withdrew their service.

The national protest was occasioned by the high cost of petrol and diesel, with Kenyans paying more than their counterparts in Tanzania and Uganda.

The schools in the urban areas remained shut as the parents could not allow their children to face the danger following the protest.
