With a few  days remaining to the polling day  Samual Kiumbia 27-year-old is campaigning in Laikipia East using his boda boda.

Kiumbia, an independent candidate  and a boda boda rider, is campaigning  for the position  alongside heavyweights, the incumbent Amin Deddy and the former Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri among others.

The JKUAT University Entrepreneurship graduate who chairs Malindi-Ruai Boda Boda group in Nanyuki town said he is ready to campaign against the more experienced politicians  and ready to give the voters an alternative.

He graduated in 2019 from the university and plunged into the boda boda industry plying the routes between Malindi and Ruai estates in Nanyuki town.

“If elected I will take Laikipia youth to another level as they are the majority and with capacity to make a decision for the future,” said Kiumbia.

When the veteran politicians are using sophisticated sound systems mounted on four wheel vehicles,  he is using a simple speaker mounted  at the back of the  motorcycle.

“ Am not  scared by the resources poured by the other politicians  as my supporters  who include the colleagues and their customers are intact in towns and villages,” he said.

Other candidates in the race are Simon King’ori Gachigua (ODM), Anthony Rukwaro Kanyua (Jubilee (Party) and Philip Ndegwa Mwangi (TND).

Independent candidates are David Muriithi Maina, Peter Muriu Mwangi and Dr David Wangui Njoroge.

The 27 year old went through DEB primary school , Nanyuki and later joined Nanyuki High School  before he proceeded  to the university.
